I have this space and I might as well use it. I love to write but between work projects, blogging the Maple Leafs offseason, and getting around to finalizing my novel, this site hasn’t received much attention.

In the best case scenario I hope to fill this space with a collection of short stories. That is probably too ambitious but there will hopefully be some. The more I write the more likely good things start happening. Unfortunately, the editing process for a novel is a killer, but I have a series I’d like to get to here while also tackling a novella that I swear I’ll finish up at some point.

For now, I’m going to with a playlist. Similar to the kind you see as monthly social media challenges, but with the realization I’ll never get to them daily and my desire to explain my reasoning. My list of song topics are as follows:

1. My baseball closer walk-in from the bullpen song
2. My funeral song
3. Song for when I’m feeling sad and want to stay that way
4. Song for when I’m feeling sad and want to cheer up
5. Wrestling theme song (absolutely different than the baseball closer thing)
6. Hockey goal song (once again these are all different)
7. My pump up song
8. The song I play when I want to annoy people
9. The song that I love that I don’t want to admit to loving
10. Best song by an artist I hate
11. Favourite Beatles Song
12. Song that will always get me pulled over for speeding
13. Song that more people should know about
14. A song I love that I won’t let my kids listen to with me (at least not yet)
15. Best theme song so specific to show/movie it’s tough to fit into a regular playlist

I’m going to add to this list as time goes on, and I’m sure I’ll throw some top tens on this site as well to share my personality with absolutely no one until my kids google this site in five years.

God’s gonna cut you down goes so ridiculously hard. So forceful and you can’t help but love Johnny Cash. As a monotone guy named Jon, I can’t help but hold him in the highest regard.

The video doesn’t hold up. It’s cool to see Keith Richards and Dennis Hopper, amongst a few others in there, but twenty years ago you knew that having Kid Rock in there wasn’t going to hold up well.

The rhythm of the song and the image of Johnny Cash, the man in black, coming in from the bullpen to deliver justice is powerful enough, but again with the name “Johnny” in the lyrics, it’s too perfect.

He spoke to me in the voice so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of angel’s feet
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, “Johnny, go do My will!”

I my mind, I start throwing heat right after the “go do my will” line. I love this song and as someone who is about as far from religious as possible, I admit this song reaches me on a spiritual level and can appreciate the amount of righteousness and implied vigilantism that is contained in.

Hopefully this is the start of more content. And now I have a content queue, so that’s a plus. Maybe this site will be worthwhile after all.
